This year, thirty-four 7th and 8th grade students were part of the FHC partnership with Misericordia Heart of Mercy's Art Program. Misericordia is those to over 600 children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This collaboration provided reflection, cultural enrichment and most importantly new friendships.
The 2019 art collaborative created an original piece title, "This Garden of Life Called Us." Through the use of expressive arts, students and residents compared life to a garden discovering similarities and finding connections. The artists then wrote a series of short stories which in many ways were reflections from their own lives. They completed the project by illustrating and editing the narrative into a beautiful and colorful book.
