Kindergarten
Kindergarten is a joyful introduction to learning at Faith, Hope & Charity. Students build confidence, curiosity, and independence as they develop foundational academic skills in a nurturing, faith-filled environment. Using HMH Into Reading, HMH Into Math, and Scholastic Let's Find Out and Science Spin, students learn through hands-on exploration, collaboration, and discovery.
Reading & Language Arts
Using HMH Into Reading, students build strong early literacy skills through phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and beginning writing. Daily lessons foster a love of reading while helping students become confident communicators.
Students learn to:
- Recognize letters and letter sounds
- Read beginning words and simple texts
- Retell stories and answer questions
- Build vocabulary through literature
- Write letters, words, and simple sentences
Mathematics
Using HMH Into Math, students develop strong number sense through hands-on exploration and mathematical conversations.
Students learn to:
- Count and compare numbers
- Build addition and subtraction strategies
- Recognize patterns and shapes
- Measure and sort objects
- Explain mathematical thinking
Science & Social Studies
Using Scholastic Let's Find Out and Science Spin, students investigate the world around them through engaging nonfiction, hands-on investigations, and collaborative learning.
Students explore:
- Weather and seasons
- Plants and animals
- Community helpers
- Families and traditions
- Maps and geography
Religion
Faith is woven throughout every day as students learn about God's love through prayer, Bible stories, weekly Mass, and acts of kindness and service.
Beyond the Classroom
Kindergarten students also enjoy Art, Music, Physical Education, French, Technology, Library, school traditions, and special classroom celebrations.
